Hope They Get A Bill

Last year, three individuals were attacked at the San Francisco Zoo by a Siberian tiger. One died and the tiger was killed by the police who responded to the call. The two survivors who are brothers, denied doing anything wrong, but a paramedic heard one of them say,"Don't tell them what we did". Pot and an empty liquor bottle were found in the car they drove to the zoo. Then they admitted to the father of their friend who was killed that even though they teased the tiger, they didn't do anything bad enough for the tiger to attack them.
The issue was brought up about the wall of the enclosure not being high enough. I've been to the S.F. Zoo- A LOT . I never felt unsafe at the big cats area. And the cats were happy to lie there in the sun and every now and then, one of them would get up and stretch. Very exciting stuff, let me tell you.
Back to the idiots, I mean, attack "victims". Turned on the computer this morning and found this tidbit of news:

The younger of two brothers who survived a Christmas Day tiger attack at the San Francisco Zoo was arrested on suspicion of trying to steal two video game controllers from a San Leandro store, police said Friday.

Paul Dhaliwal, 19, hid two Nintendo Wii controllers in his pants at the Target store at the Bayfair Center mall about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, San Leandro police Lt. Tom Overton said.

Store security officer Michael Marucut, dressed in plain clothes, told authorities that he witnessed the theft and followed Dhaliwal as he walked past the cash registers, "never making an attempt to pay for the concealed items," the police report said.

Once Dhaliwal walked outside the store, Marucut and several other security officials confronted him. Dhaliwal "was uncooperative and immediately began to resist," Marucut wrote in a statement included in the police report.

Dhaliwal was subdued and placed under citizen's arrest. Officer Warren DeGuzman arrived and took Dhaliwal into custody. After he was read his rights, Dhaliwal "admitted to selecting and concealing the merchandise," DeGuzman wrote in his report.

But Dhaliwal said he never left the store with the items, the police report said.

Dhaliwal, whose scars from the tiger attack are still visible on his head, was arrested for petty theft, Overton said. Dhaliwal posted $1,500 bail shortly before 3 p.m. Friday, police said.

The incident at Target happened on the same day the brothers filed a claim against the city of San Francisco, seeking unspecified monetary damages in connection with the tiger attack. A message left for Paul Dhaliwal wasn't returned.

The alleged shoplifting incident isn't his first brush with the law.

In February, both he and his brother, Kulbir Dhaliwal, 24, who also survived the tiger attack, were in court to seek the personnel records of San Jose officers who arrested them after they scuffled with police on Sept. 7. But at a hearing Friday, the defense withdrew that motion, said Stuart Scott, a Santa Clara County deputy district attorney. An attorney for Paul Dhaliwal did not return a call for comment.

After that incident, both men were charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. Paul Dhaliwal was also charged with misdemeanor battery on a police officer.

The brothers were arrested after they allegedly refused to cooperate with officers who reported seeing them chase two men down the street, according to police reports.

Paul Dhaliwal is accused of hitting an officer in the chest with his forearm as the officer tried to restrain him, leading to the battery charge. He stopped resisting only when an officer held a stun gun to his neck and threatened to use it, according to a police report.

Kulbir Dhaliwal cursed at officers while kicking the security partition in a squad car, forcing police to pull him out and put him in leg restraints, the police report states.

In February, Paul Dhaliwal pleaded not guilty to marijuana possession after being cited Dec. 21 for allegedly having 1.8 grams of pot in his pocket while in the parking lot of a Milpitas hotel.

He had been placed on probation three days before that incident after pleading no contest to felony reckless driving and other charges for leading police on a 140 mph chase on April 28, court records show.

Chronicle staff writer John Coté contributed to this report.

And these jerks want to sue my zoo.

As anyone looking back at an incident can say, I'm sure the staff at the zoo could have done things differently - but I wasn't there, so that's not really fair.

My hope is that this case goes to trial. The brothers are found to be the scumbags they are. And most of all, I hope at the end of it, they are given a bill for, "One Siberian Tiger, To Be PAID IN FULL".

I Feel Violated

Yesterday morning "Smith" and I went for a hike at a local regional park. It was a beautiful morning, it was cool in the shade, and warm in the sun. I usually go to the YMCA to workout, but this morning I wanted to go with my hubby, he didn't want to go to the Y, so we compromised and went on the hike.
There was a guy in walking who didn't seem to come from any car. He asked how we were doing, and went up the trail ahead of us, then up a path "Smith" said went to nowhere. We went on our hike and I didn't think of him for the rest of the time we were there. We got back to the car and found that the passenger side window had been broken, and the stuff that was between the seats had been moved and the glove box opened and pawed through. I think the guy thought I left a purse in the car because I wasn't carrying anything when I walked away from the car.
I NEVER LEAVE MY PURSE IN THE CAR. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER. When I go out for a walk or quick trip, I take the bare necessities: keys, driver's license, health plan cards, and ATM card.
At first I was pissed off because I knew there was nothing in the car to steal. Then I was relieved because the stereo was still there. Then disappointed because there were no good surfaces for getting any fingerprints. I was frustrated at having to call work and let them know what was going on, and my Mom to see if she might be able to pick up my little one from school.
When the Park Police left and we got in the car to drive home, it hit me.
It took all I had not to cry, I think "Smith" heard it when I spoke. I was so mad. How dare he? I mean, I understand how, I am married to a cop after all. Still I didn't figure that anyone would want to break into my car: it's a mom-mobile for goodness sake!
I felt violated, and the miserable jerk didn't even get anything from my car! I'd love to meet the guy who did it and tell him what a jerk I think he is. I'm thinking of making a sign for my car that says: Driver Carries No Change, Only Kid's Junk. Maybe that will keep it from happening again. One time was enough for me.

If You Are Easily Offended Or Don't Like Parodies, Skip This

Woe is me, I have E.D.,
And have a limp wee-wee.
Bless my soul, in the hole it won't go,
So no nookie for me...Until
VIVA VIAGRA!
VIVA VIAGRA!

What is it about a bunch of guys who can't get an erection sitting around with each other moaning about their plight to an Elvis tune that is supposed to sell medication for that problem?
"Smith" and I were watching the tube and one of those bloody commercials came on, and we started joking about it. He made some comment about one of the guys singing from the side of his mouth, and before I could stop myself, I said "It's because he had a stroke...and now only half his (deleted) goes up". He lost it, and I did too.
I guess somewhere down the line karma will catch up with me, but it was funny when it happened.

Open Mouth, Insert Foot

There have been several times I have said something and had it be the completely wrong thing to say. Or, what I have said has come out completely wrong, and I wound up explaining what I meant.
Luckily, I have friends who do the same thing, and a family that understands and usually takes a second or two try to figure out what I meant.
Then there are the times I'm being deliberately scathing. Like the time I told and ex-boyfriend, "We all have problems in life we have to deal with,(name deleted). Right now I have to deal with my ice cream melting in front of me. Goodbye.", and hung up the phone. My family was sitting there stunned, and then burst into laughter. I spoke truth when I called a lawyer a "scum sucking bottom-feeder". The best ones seem to come when I'm upset. Then I don't remember them later. Sometimes it's better I don't.

First:
I want to say "thank you" to my family, including my mother in law, for the wonderful time I had at my birthday dinner.

Second:
My folks were a little amazed when they heard I was letting the kids watch "Cops". (Let me say they watch religously and gave it up when the kids were over). I used to not let them watch it because the little one was too little, and the older one acted out the segments with his buddies on the school playground. (Those were interesting calls to get from principal).
Lately though, the kids had gotten some strange ideas about what the police can and cannot do. The would talk about their Dad arresting someone and shooting that person for talking trash at him, and other crazy kid stuff. So, I thought, what the heck, it can't do any more towards twisting what they thought the job is about. Plus, it gives them an idea of the things their Dad deals with when he's at work. Since watching has been allowed, the crazy talk has stopped, more questions are being asked about how the police handled themselves on the show, what Dad does at work, and to my husband's relief - the kids let him come through the door and have a few minutes to himself.
I'm sure this won't work for everyone. And I'm sure there are people who are going to read this and be shocked that I'm letting the young impressionable minds of my kids be exposed to "that".
All I have to say is this: It's our life. It's our job to raise our kids, and there's no manual to consult and we're doing the best we can. And all things considered, I think we're doing ok.

I Need A Break

I like getting away with my husband. We had a chance to get out without the kids the other night, and it was a blast. We got to have a dinner we wanted to have, and see a movie we were interested in. It was nice, and strange all at the same time. I wish we could get a break more often, but since we rely on grandparents to take the kids, we don't want to abuse it.
I am really needing "The Yearly Escape". "Smith" and I try to get away once a year without the kids. Last year's wasn't so good for me. I wound up being more tired than before we left. This year I hope it's different. I know "Smith" needs to get away, too. So, we're looking into getting out of here for a while, and looking forward to spending some time with each other.

I really need to get away from it all for a bit. To quote a song I love, "I'm going slightly mad..."
