I Feel Violated

Yesterday morning "Smith" and I went for a hike at a local regional park. It was a beautiful morning, it was cool in the shade, and warm in the sun. I usually go to the YMCA to workout, but this morning I wanted to go with my hubby, he didn't want to go to the Y, so we compromised and went on the hike.
There was a guy in walking who didn't seem to come from any car. He asked how we were doing, and went up the trail ahead of us, then up a path "Smith" said went to nowhere. We went on our hike and I didn't think of him for the rest of the time we were there. We got back to the car and found that the passenger side window had been broken, and the stuff that was between the seats had been moved and the glove box opened and pawed through. I think the guy thought I left a purse in the car because I wasn't carrying anything when I walked away from the car.
I NEVER LEAVE MY PURSE IN THE CAR. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER. When I go out for a walk or quick trip, I take the bare necessities: keys, driver's license, health plan cards, and ATM card.
At first I was pissed off because I knew there was nothing in the car to steal. Then I was relieved because the stereo was still there. Then disappointed because there were no good surfaces for getting any fingerprints. I was frustrated at having to call work and let them know what was going on, and my Mom to see if she might be able to pick up my little one from school.
When the Park Police left and we got in the car to drive home, it hit me.
It took all I had not to cry, I think "Smith" heard it when I spoke. I was so mad. How dare he? I mean, I understand how, I am married to a cop after all. Still I didn't figure that anyone would want to break into my car: it's a mom-mobile for goodness sake!
I felt violated, and the miserable jerk didn't even get anything from my car! I'd love to meet the guy who did it and tell him what a jerk I think he is. I'm thinking of making a sign for my car that says: Driver Carries No Change, Only Kid's Junk. Maybe that will keep it from happening again. One time was enough for me.

Oh my gosh! So sorry to hear your vehicle was broken into! I hope they find the jerk who did it - so you can kiss his butt! ;)

That really ticks me off when people do something like that. I really hate the fact that he said hi, trying to act nice. Grrrrrr
