Anger

Right now like a lot of other people, and for various reasons, I feel anger toward the BART Police. One of the big differences between me and a lot of the other angry people? I'm not destroying the city I freaking live in. What a bunch of morons.

Hope that you and the husband are safe and well with all going on - hopefully things get resolved quickly and fairly for everyone involved.

I agree with you...this is all very disturbing and close to home huh?
I think the cop mistook his pistol for his taser...fatal mistake..
the whole thing is horrible...

Leslie, you missed the BART shooting.

Sean, thank you for the well wishes. Luckily we are several cities away from the madness

SCW, He may have, but what side do they carry their Taser o in that dept. Plus the way its been handled is disgraceful.

Mrs Smith:
Finally did some research online since the news up here has not mentioned it. Watched some of the raw footage shot at the train station. Wow. I sat stunned as I watched. So many thoughts and still struggling on how to verbalize them.

I hadn't heard anything about this in my neck of the woods but I did some research online.

First comment: I just don't understand what looting, burning and trashing businesses has to do with something like this happening. Yes, if you feel there has been a wrong, speak up, but what does distruction and a free TV have to do with it?

Second comment: I have no idea what really happened here. From the cell phone video it certainly looked as though he was cooperating. If the officer did act wrongly or if he did mistakenly grab his gun, not his tazer, that is a tragic mistake that should mean consequences and changes in the way things are done.

However. What the cell phone video doesn't show us is exactly what was said down there. It certainly looked like a chaotic situation. Someone can have thier hands in the air and appear to be cooperating from a distance and still be a threat.

One article I wrote said he resigned, meaning he doesn't have to be interviewed by internal affairs. Is that really how it works?

If he resigned, there's no point in IA investigating him because IA typically just handles administrative discipline matters. They can close their case out. He's still going to be on the line for the criminal investigation, though.
